Abstract
Analytic theories are born with urgency of thought and are profoundly linked to the lived experiences of analysts. The evolution of the relationship between Freud and Jung illustrates the extent to which their mutual incomprehension paradoxically allowed each to bring forward a different understanding of the psyche. The prevalence, in Freud, of the dimension of temporality allowed him to deepen the question of recall and therefore the role of transfer in the analytic relationship, especially in the field of neuroses. Jung, who was more sensitive to the spatial dimension, enabled reflexion in the field of psychosis, on which Freud admitted discomfort, and Jung thus opened a precious road to the understanding of psychosis.
