Abstract
This article addresses the role of the child and the adolescent in building the social world, suggesting a break with traditional models of approach to childhood, for a new paradigm, which considers them as social actors able to participate in shaping their life, health and well-being. The need to apply the principles of child sociology in the field of health promotion and health education is highlighted, especially with regard to the planning of school health interventions.
