Port-Royal’s memory was, at least until the French Revolution, animated by a strong activist. The celebration of the Martyr monastery was a real emblem of jansenism in the 18th century and contributed strongly to identity crystallisation and the maintenance of a lively anti-jansenist tradition, even though party forces declined.
