Jean Genet, Judge and Party: from the ubiquitous storytelling to the dramaturge commentator

Abstract

how do we get from the novel to the theatre? Should this change of gender be seen as a change in writing? It is true, however, that the writer remains the same. However, among the constants of Genet’s work, we will show how the writer continues the newspaper of his writing from one gender to another, how the omnipotent narrator, critically and reader of his work, felt through the figure of a dramatic commentator. The latter, outside the performance, reaffirms his ‘desire to master’, through a set of overabundant and protein comments added to the theatre text. From one gender to another, Genet remains a writer expressing a relationship of all power to his creations, where he plays all the roles, replacing readers and characters, staging and critical. He occupies all his place in the only game space he can occupy: its own text.
