Abstract
Access, use and ownership of information and communication technologies (ICT) is a priority in countries undergoing comprehensive development processes. This research shows the efforts made in Cuba (Guáimaro, Camagüey province) to contribute to the pedagogical and scientific preparation of professionals, specifically for the health sector, thus contributing to their work efficiency. To this end, a diagnosis of needs and a proposal for digital information literacy on basic content was developed, which are involved in the process of solving practical problems in the information management activity in the health sector, identifying needs for initial knowledge (text processors, data processing and production of presentations), and issues related to web pages, Moodle platform, bibliographic managers, mail and electronic navigation, as well as search engines and metabulators for the generation and dissemination of knowledge. As a product of diagnostic development, the work was complemented by the assessment of results through qualitative research techniques involving experts in health and IT disciplines.
