Abstract
The friendship between the French sculptor, Jean Baffier (1851-1917) and the writer Georges Ducrocq (1874-1927) led to patronage of a few sculptures, a marble bust of L'Angèle, which was delivered on Christmas day, 1903, and a bust called La Grand-Mère, which is the portrait of Georges Ducrocq's grandmother and was commissionned by the writer. This portrait was inspired by the living model in 1906 and completed during the second part of 1907. Several letters, which are kept in the musée du Berry, Bourges, help to know the genesis of La Grand-Mère and the relationship between the sculptor and his patron, concerning the Fédération régionaliste française, and their involvement in periodicals, such as Le Réveil de la Gaule and Les Marches de l'Est.
