The legacy written by Florence Nightingale. A rich heritage of the nursing profession

Abstract

This study offers a rapprochement to the written culture environment in which the British nurse Florence Nightingale emerged throughout her life, which showed growing passion for writing. It was communicated through letters with people from the highest levels of victorian society (politicians, intellectuals and scientists), as well as having a close relationship with their family. He commanded and published numerous works for the health sector and systematically used the omniest power of the press to broadcast his work. He received invaluable help from powerful and influential friends and his written legacy is now very scattered across institutions from different countries, some of which are now digitised and available on the internet, so that their dissemination and study allows better knowledge of the personality of British illustrative nurse. His figure went beyond the limits of nursing practice and circulated throughout Europe the image of a woman fighting and tirelessly for women’s rights, often appearing in the decimonic press in Spain with heroin features and a model following Nitingale’s writing in all its manifestations played a decisive role in shaping the image of Florence.
