Abstract
Texts in Corpus Studies and Scaling Problems We introduce observations from corpora in order to handle scale in discourse studies. Expository texts in French belonging to similar contexts but varying in size are screened under the same theoretical model. Computer aided and manual experiments show that forms do not have a single function, but instead that contrast, agreement use whatever can be used in text at various granularity levels. Relative positions are studied in individual texts and small press folders. The correct measures to be used by programmes hint at the resolution question in computer mediated analysis.
