Paulo Freire: 100 years of releasing práxis

Abstract

The article presents the current situation of Paulo Freire for Brazilian education, focusing on his contributions to the field of liberating praxis, especially in times of an ultra-neoliberal society project. It shows that education is a political act, defends a liberating, humanizing and emancipatory education, exposes limit situations experienced by students and educators, announces viable novelties based on Paulo Freire's ideas and the ways of conjugating, in education, the verb hope . The text is divided into three parts. In the first one, the current thought of Paulo is presented, having as its axis the legacy of his works and the attacks he has suffered in recent years. In the second, the liberating praxis in Paulo Freire is discussed. The third part addresses the extreme situations and the challenge of the unprecedented viable Freirean, based on the experiences and challenges faced in remote education. The article points to the need to better understand the life and work of Paulo Freire, fight fake news and misinformation about the author, spread the thought and contribution of Paulo Freire's liberating praxis to education in Brazil and in the world, to overcome the extreme situations that one lives, to believe in the viable novelties and to hope in education.
