Abstract
Obesity is a major public health problem. Its prevalence continues to rise to such an extent that it is now seen as a global epidemic affecting adults and, increasingly, children. Assuming that a child suffering from obesity will be likely to remain in adulthood and be more inclined to develop pathologies, the need to act from an early age seems obvious. The aim of my memory is to propose an approach that tries to reduce stigmatising behaviours towards obese or overweight people, starting in nursery schools. In this way, I want to take action on psychological factors, and therefore on the mental health of people suffering from obesity, in order to contribute to their physical, mental and social well-being. In order to do so, I looked at the prevalence of obesity and overweight by explaining the different causes and consequences of this epidemic before turning to a solution to try to break the vicious circle between psychological determinants and stigmatisation.
