From the analysis of mobility to planning time and mobility

Abstract

Space and time are the familiar benchmarks in which we interpret what we perceive from the world around us, in particular the movement. Space is, by its very nature, temporal, and time, spatial, since both are the foundations of our social life. However, time and space have always been dealt with separately. The author proposes to develop an approach that crosses time, production systems and space at the crossroads of four strong societal demands (quality of daily life, proximity, user-friendliness and participatory democracy) and to build urban planning of time and mobility.
