Sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities: Converging with common sexuality?

Abstract

who is now challenging the right of persons with disabilities to have access to sexuality practices? There is no doubt that there would be no risk, conscious of violating the principle of law and ethics, that of non-discrimination, which states that everyone enjoys the full benefit of ordinary law. Indeed, our societies have changed on this point, reversing their position. Again, they considered it normal and lawful to prohibit all access to sexuality to those who they considered to be different, without, however, arguing for this consensual restriction. Simply because imagining a sexual relationship between people with disabilities would exacerbate their monstruosity because of their supposed low humanity, combined with a wild animal, and feared the resulting fatally dubious enthusiasm. Moreover, they did not appear to be viable partners because they would have devalued those who wanted them. They were therefore at the same time left behind and excluded. This did not prevent them from serving, on occasion, as a sexual object for their entourage who found a consignment with them for their needs or frustration. But this was done in the thickest secret and remained confined to the family space. The case appears to have been finally heard.
