Abstract
presents the experience of the actions carried out by the Reference Section of the Carteado Julieta Central Library (BCJC), the managing body of the Integrated Library System of the State University of Feira de Santana (SISBI-UEFS). It demonstrates the need for the library’s activities to meet the new requirements of the community of users that it meets, and describes the activities carried out in the Reference Section in the light of the new demands of the priority audiences of SISBI-UEFS and the positioning of the BCJC as a university library, which uses its practices in order to take better account of diverse audiences. Among the activities carried out are cultural actions, campaigns, online services, innovative services and organisational learning activities, which indicate the diversity of the products and services offered, giving the BCJC Reference Section a new perspective, as an agent for multicultural information needs, which seeks to offer innovative services and to overcome the expectations of its users.
