Importance of knowledge management and its impact on the competitiveness of the devolved autonomous governments of Manabí

Abstract

This article aims to: determine the importance of knowledge management and its impact on the competitiveness of the devolved autonomous governments (HIGs) in Manabí. For this purpose, theoretical foundations were taken from (Pérez, Yudith; Coutín, Adrián, 2005), (Nonaka, Takeuchi, 1995 and González, Alberto; JoaquíI, Caroll and Colacres, Cesar, (2009), among others. The research methods used were historical, analytical and synthesis. The participating observation, the survey, was used for the collection of the data. Two types of instruments (Survey) were applied to 20 officials and the second to the employees of the Municipal GAD of the canton Portoviejo, to a sample of 60 employees. In the results of the investigation, it was established that the competitiveness of the GAD Municipal del Cantón Portoviejo is visible in the works carried out and in the level of satisfaction of the users of the various services provided by this municipality, which shows that knowledge is indeed managed. However, this knowledge management must respond to long-term planning, ensuring its functionality over time; and improving the quality of services. The investigation led to the conclusion that the conversion theories of knowledge of Nonaka and Takeuchi are important, as they are applied in Portoviejo Municipal GAD, which are socialisation, externalisation, combination and internalisation, known as the SECI method.
