Abstract
Summary: Gambling as a natural activity of the human being — primarily in its early years of life — is of key pedagogical importance at the level of early childhood education. In this respect, this work presents the main findings of a study which sought to investigate the meaning given to it by educators who carry out their work with children under the age of three. The investigation was carried out under a qualitative methodology and hermenic phenomenology was used as a method. Six professionals working with young children under the age of three participated in educational institutions located in the regions of Ñuble and Biobío, Chile. The in-depth interview, analysed from a mixed categorisation process supported by Atlas ti v.8. was used as an information production technique. The results highlight that educators, at the level of awareness, have clarity on how to conceptualise the game, giving it a significant assessment as a means of learning, but its implementation visualises the instrumentalisation of this activity.
