Contribute research skills to the integration of curricular knowledge. A vision in the learning scenario of architectural design

Abstract

Summary The present work aims to understand the significance of research competences for the integration of curricular knowledge in the Architectural Design Workshop (TDA). This study was developed from the pedagogical phenomenological interpretative approach by Van Manen (2003), focusing on experiences experienced by architectural students and teachers, supported by theoretical references. Based on in-depth interviews, analysing and triguising data with theoretical inputs, intersubjective interpretations were made, from which the categories emerged: research processes, knowledge integrative processes, vision of the CT and the role of the teacher, which made it possible to understand the relevance of research skills, through processes, practices and attitudes to research; the latter, which are of high significance, allow understanding, development and efficiency of the design process as a result of integrating curricular knowledge. A theortic approach to the provision of these competences for the integration of curricular knowledge into the TDA was drawn up.
