The interaction between past, present and future is at the heart of the psychanalytic process and involves, in the transfer and time of the session, perception, language, remembrance and influence. After considering the various types of spaces, metaphoric systems that conceptualise mental space and time are examined on the basis of cognitive language and neuroscience research.
