Abstract
`titrebIndividual therapy and family therapy`/titrebIn this article, the author states his strong belief in the importance of the family’s role in each step of the treatment of mental disorders, whether child or adult disorders: diagnosis is improved by the knowledge of the social and family environment and also during the follow-up, the family can help the therapist through its understanding of the psychic disturbance and through its supportive attitude. The author remains firmly attached to the traditional family setting: the family first of all and, in second place, the grand parents’ generation used as consultants. He is also investigating the present role of other settings such as the individual systemic therapy.
