Abstract
International audience This article aims to study how international students enrolled at a language center in France use digital mobile technologies (such as smartphones) in and out of class. The results, obtained through a questionnaire filled in by 227 participants, uncover the extent of connectedness among this category of students as well as the diversity of their motivations. The study focuses on the perceived impact of the use of personal digital tools during class time on students' attention and, ultimately, examines how the didactic contract could be questioned by the importation and the use of personal digital tools in the classroom.
