Abstract

With the implementation of the new National Curricular Guidelines for Child Education — DCNEI, approved in 2009, early childhood education units now represent spaces in which interactions and play are key pedagogical axes. This article demonstrates, by reporting experience, the organisation of space and environment in a child education unit in the city of Londrina, Paraná. The class analysed refers to the berth and the choice of segment was due to the specificity of the age group. The physical organisation of the nursery requires the promotion of spaces and environments, carefully planned and with intentional professional practices that cater for small ones. With this in mind, we identify the need to point out the guidelines of the 2009 DCNEI on the legal aspects of that stage of education. Of the elements addressed, caring for and educating children are inextricably linked grounds that should be present in the planning of child education.
