Abstract
One of the defining characteristics of American universities and colleges is undoubtedly their microcosmic aspect. These “societies in miniature” have often provided a breeding ground for the development of student activism. This article seeks to shed light on the face of student involvement today which has been making a remarkable comeback for the past ten years. This article intends to highlight the central place which racial issues occupy in student mobilization, discuss how activism emerges and takes form on campuses as well as determine to what extent it may/must be considered as a signal proving that the tolerance threshold regarding inequality has now been exceeded.
