Abstract
'pbLa Catholic Renaissance, which follows the Trento concile, is subject to two concomitant historical readings. It was tightening up structures, enregimentating the masses by a more held clergy, a powerful catechsis company, thanks to the support of the State. But it was also saintly and pired. These two aspects, which may appear to be contradictory with each other, actually coexist in everyday life. And if a quantitatively important christianisation results from the methodical action of the Roman Church, this is because it was qualitatively doubled, supported, emptied from the inside by treasures of dedication, heroism, charity, spirituality, creative imagination. ‘/PB’ pbSe, however, raises the question of the limits of the christianisation thus achieved between Luther’s arrival on the historical scene and the time of Voltaire’s death. The Catholicism is barely released from the protest and faces the ‘Enlightenment’ shock.’/PB
