Where these data come from
Finally, an enigma is resolved: the fake Iphigenia of Antioche was an Alceste

Abstract

International audience The so-called Iphigenia mosaic from Antioch, Turkey, IInd century AD (Doro Levi, Antioch Mosaic Pavements, Princeton, 1947, p. 119-126 and pl. XXI-XXII) does not represent that myth and is not inspired by Euripides' Iphigenia at Aulis. The image, being related to the dextrarum junction series and also to the series showing heroins coming back from Hades, represents instead the moment when Alcestis, returning from death under the protection of Persephone (Apollodorus, Bibl., I, 9, 15) is to be united again with her forme husband king Admetus
