Abstract
Hegemonic Philosophy apprehends the other from the Same, which thus ceases to be a homogeneous Totality but without losing Sameness. The logic of alterity that this arti-cle explains, rethought from Lèvinas and extended by Dussel’s Philosophy of liberation, shows however that there is reality beyond the absolute Being. Human being is not a fact, but a project. Its capability to be understood as an opening capacity gives it the dynamic possibility, it puts the human being in front of more possible Others. It is the factual reality that human life is always in the hands of the Other, which disrupts any strong negative identity constructed in terms of exclusion. Analysis of Lèvina’s philosophy of the other, confirming the deficiency of his approach, with is enriched from the contributions of Dus-sel’s liberation.
