The objective of this study is to analyze the evolution of the theme work and new forms of flexibility of labor relations that provide identity, meaning and well-being. The work, as a pleasurable activity, undergoes a change of attitude of people across the occupational activity, from self-knowledge, career planning and a workday that glimpse the improvement in quality of life. Promoting the welfare assumes the link between labor relations traversed by the capitalist system and the importance of balancing individual needs and organizational competitiveness. Functioning as a guide elements emerge: the relationship with the meanings of work, career planning and post-career and the connection between personal and organizational values. Was adopted for the research a qualitative methodological strategy that aims to investigate from the exploration and description of the dimensions of the theme work in contemporary society. Thus, the promotion of well-being and career planning should be treated as life planning throughout the functional period, from a multidimensional view of the developer, entered into a broad cultural and social context that goes beyond the organizational environment.
