Abstract
This book presents an overview of the consequences of integrating IT into teaching, particularly for second-level teacher training. * In the first part, the challenges and prospects for the development of IT are presented. How is it a technology for intellectual work? How do “new information and communication technologies” make it possible to think differently about teacher training? Do we need training in IT from primary school to university (and how)? How does it change ways of working in industry? * A second part is organised around strong and recurrent topics very discussed during the colloquium and relating to teaching practices and approaches: modelling and simulation, banks and databases, the teacher’s computer tool. In addition, all training must have a forward-looking dimension: what seemed to be science fiction a decade ago is about to materialise. New working environments are emerging (including laptops). What are the new potential, what transformations will the education system bring about? * The third part focuses on aspects related to teacher training. It addresses, from various points of view, the question of the transversal skills that teachers need to have in order to implement software tools. Finally, the problem of training engineers that can — or should — be used is raised.
