Abstract
Interest in the Andean region has grown in the face of its complex socio-cultural reality, the great political and economic instability, the controversial dynamics of its international relations and the tensions and alliances formed between neighbouring countries. It is precisely because this is a region that has undergone profound changes over the last decade that studies on the Andean region are becoming relevant and deserve to be highlighted. The Andean American book: regional integration, security and other views are devoted to analysing this region from a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary focus, addressing issues such as regional integration, security, democracy and international relations. It also symbolises the joint effort of researchers from six different institutions from three countries — Brazil, Colombia and Mexico — which contributes with different views to the understanding of the American sub-region.
