Abstract
The book distribution apparatus helps to identify different channels, which are more multi-titled and elite, which include levels and methods of communication that involve the formation of tastes, mindsets and, beyond that, societies’ tastes. Booksellers are at the heart of this issue. Thus, through the historical study of the itinerant and clandestine bookshop, the second-hand bookshop and the retail bookshop, it is the medium function of places and men that is analysed, with the aim of contributing, not to a passeristic celebration of a world that is still attached, or to the dry writing of a Spanish bookshop book, but to an insight into Spain’s cultural history of Restauration, viewed from this nodal point of communication.
