Abstract
This study highlights the oral components that cut the legal culture of isabelina — although many of the hypotheses launched here are very likely to apply to other American and European traditions. With the lawyer/speaker as a model of perfect lawyer and touch stone of the culture in question, university practices (lessons, opening speeches, academic competitions), the forensic profession (knowledge, libraries, gestures, etc.) are analysed successively, with a particular focus on language literature and, finally, parliamentary and legislative activity. This is intended to look at the texts of the liberal moment from a new perspective.
