Health status, society and vocational training: contradictions and challenges in 20 years of SUS

Abstract

"In the process of constructing the SUS, the subject of training for technical health workers has become a growing concern, subject to public action in the face of scarcity and poor distribution among the Brazilian states, but mainly because of the large number of workers with precarious or no vocational training”, inform the organisers in the presentation of the work which discusses topics ranging from the expropriation of the working class to social follow-up, from neo-liberal globalisation to health reform to reaching Brazilian educational policy in the knowledge society and education of health workers under the aegis of productivity. There is an unwavering need to “revive the ashes” and to contest the rumps and senses of society and of labour, health and education rights as fundamental human dimensions, opts for philosopher and educator Gaudência Frigotto at the back of the publication, which reflects advances and difficulties in the country’s public policy and indicates ways to overcome its deadlocks. Thus, in ten chapters, each written by specialists from a wide range of fields of knowledge, a multitude of views about the main theme is built in the book.
