Sulphur polygraph, moderator of journals and groups of writers, atypical engaged intellectuals, Georges Bataille has, throughout his work, travelled through generalities and disciplines, both in poetry and novel or trial, talking about pornography and folia such as philosophy, economics and art. The School of Charters devotes a day of study to him, as his former pupil may seem to be far removed by his exciting and experimental work. The share of social sciences and erudition in her literary background has often been evaded in favour of ertism and mystic by some criticism. And its links with academic history have always been ambiguous. The purpose of this compendium is not to restore the legitimacy of Georges Bataille through chartist re-appropriation, but to wonder about the “History Bataille”, i.e. this writing of intellectual experimentation, the history of which is an essential dimension, it is not an attempt to show the “erudit” behind the “thinker” and the “poet”. Rather, in his life and writing, how Bataille worked with historian, and how the historical dimension of his work is linked to his aesthetic and spiritual commitment.
