Where these data come from
From baba (papa) to the mother, parallel jobs in Moroccan Arabic and youth in France

Abstract

The aim of this article is to bring together jobs in Moroccan Arabic, an euphemistic replacement, baba and papa, to mitigate invectives and threats, and recent jobs in the young words of ‘her mother’. That term is also used as a support, which is syntactically constructed as a complement to an object of a verb used intransitionally, thus serving to mark the high degree. I try to bring this employment closer to examples drawn from young parlers, where the addition of an object supplement to intransient verbs also produces this intensive value. The aim of this article is to compare the uses in Moroccan Arabic, of a substitute, with a euphemistic value, baba, ‘Daddy’, which sets to watch the strength of invectives and threats, and some recent uses in the Youths’ urban languages, of the expression ‘his mother’. This term can also be used as a substitute, syntactically constructed as the object of an intransitive verb, thus marking intensity.
