Domestic museums of the Armenian community

Abstract

To perpetuate founding elements of culture, diaspora communities use their space to deprive the conservation and expression of an exilee identity as a privilegy territory. The example of Quebec Armenians is particularly revelation in terms of both the composition of its material and immateriality culture and the practices that put it into the scenes through small domestic musees. On the basis of a collection of life recits and biographies of objects, the article proposes drawing up the portrait of these museal structures and their collections with the family echelle and then grasping their work in the cultural transmission project.
