Negative emotions of childcare professionals facing the placement situation: the light of the attachment theory

Abstract

The author illustrates how the attachment history of professionals helps to understand in part why the situation of reporting can confront those who do so with violent negative emotions. The author resumes the contribution of the theorie of attachment to phenomene regulation of so-called negatives emotions and has the comprehension of the impact on the child of the non-adequation of the parents’ responses. The author relies on the concept of phenomene of parentification revisited by the attachment theories to show how ‘caregiving compulsive’, which is recentlessly found among professionals in mental health, can be the evolution of an unorganised attachment in childhood. The situation of having to reshape the question “Who Protege who?” can look back to the ancient attitudes of Liotti under the term “dramatic Triangle”. Knowing these vulnerabilites helps the professional in charge of the child not to lose sight of the objective of protecting the child.
