Abstract
While contemporary values have opened up other avenues of achievement for women, maternal experience is currently essential for full personal realisation, this new imperatives of our time. In this context, the child has become the illusory place where the parents and their own reussite are fully satisfied. However, the clinic of the maternal revelates the extent to which a child’s expectations are, for each woman, an opportunity for deep psychological mobilisation and major subjective changes, calling for a process of symbolic destitution of the maternal through the challenges of narcissism, incompleteness and alteritis.
