Abstract

In the course of this work, we try to answer the question about what philosophy at school? From this point of view, the debate on the usefulness of philosophical knowledge compared with other knowledge and in the context of the changes that characterise today’s societies, turning this issue back to the question of the meaning of philosophy. Another converging problem lies in the situation in which philosophy is being taught, particularly as a result of the permanent loss of curricular spaces at the middle and university levels. In particular, the case recently presented in Mendoza and other experiences at international level, where the humanities in general are relegated in educational programmes, which has generated a response from different philosophical associations. Finally, it focuses on the sense of philosophy and its role in education, linking it to the need for contextualisation, which is recognised in particular in the Latin American philosophy. From this point of view, we suggest approaches that can bring philosophical teaching from the points that emerge from this contemporary line of reflection.
