International audience ; Vegetation indices (VI), particularly the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), are often used as data layers for management unit delineation. They can be derived from various sensor configurations and platforms, both remote and proximal. The question is how much difference is there between VI maps from various sensing systems in a production context? To address this question, this study involved a selection of methods to compare NDVI data from four sources, two terrestrial crop reflectance sensors and UAV and Sentinel-2 imagery, to determine how similar these data sources were. The correlation coefficients and the resulting management unit maps showed that NDVI obtained from different sensors, especially satellite platforms, generated differing information for decision making. All NDVI maps are not equal when converted to production decisions.
