Abstract
the government is launching a reflection on a reform of paternity leave. A report has just been requested from the Inspectorate General for Social Affairs. Currently, employed fathers [1] are entitled to 11 consecutive calendar days for paternity leave. Under the same conditions as maternity leave, paternity leave is optional. An extension of the duration of this leave is envisaged, while the idea of making it compulsory seems to be discarded, in the light of the statements made by Marlène Schiappa, Secretary of State for Gender Equality and Muriel Pénicaud, Minister of Labour.
