Study of fluido-structure interaction on a flat plate under unidirectional coupling conditions

Abstract

[ES] This study carries out a Fluido-Structure Interaction Analysis (FSI) on a rectangular flat plate that is bonded on one side to a square cross-section covering in order to generate turbulence. It is assumed that the coupling is mono-directional, also called One Way, which implies that the flow-dynamic and structural calculations are carried out separately. StarCCM + and AnsysWorkbench are used respectively as calcium softw. The methodology followed starts by resolving the fluid field of the geometry mentioned above, for which it is essential to have achieved prior domain independence and grid independence in the CfD calculation. Among other things, the result of obtaining the fluid field is the temporal evolution of the field of pressure on the placa. The Fourier Transformation (FFT) is then applied in order to have such pressure fields in the frequency domain and are then imported into the softwarede finite elements to find the harmonious response of the plate. It can be said that prior to this, grid independence has also had to be achieved in this structural calculation. Finally, having the harmonised results in the field of frequency and with a modal study of the plate, which makes it possible to determine the natural frequencies of the plate, it is possible to discuss the validity of the assumed OneWay coupling scenario. Following the development of the project, additional conclusions have been reached, such as the soundness of the basic parameters governing the problem and its quantitative influence on the problem, the importance of the work with an adimennial number that makes it possible to generalise the solution or functioning of the phenomenon called Vortex Sheddingand its importance in the structural design of the component.
