Abstract

[EN] This Final Project has been awarded with a Cooperation Programme scholarship by the Centro de Centre for Development Cooperation (CCD) of Polytechnique University of Valencia (UPV), as also supported by the Recomposición de la Ciudad Informal Foundation (ReCi) and Clínica de lo Social Foundation. Clínica de lo Social project aims at reducing the social problems existing in the District of Cartagena de Indias, being some of them poverty, domestic violence, child abuse, teenage pregnancy, sexual exploitation and child labor, sexual abuse, sexual tourism, gangs, racial discrimination, gender inequality and dysfunctional families. Since 2014 until now, Clínica de lo Social Foundation provides services to the communities of Colombiatón, Flor del Campo, Villas de Aranjuez, Ciudad de Bicentenario, Urbanización la India and Portal de la Cordialidad, all located in Localidad 2 de la Virgen y Turística of Cartagena. These neighborhoods, built in between 2004 and 2016, are characterized by being social housing developments (VIS) given by the government to victims of displacement due to the armed conflict or loss of housing because of flood or collapse. The lack of basic infrastructures, low-quality dwellings and public space increase the weak social fabric that is also present in Colombian society. This Final Project tries to reinforce the Clínica de lo Social architecture project boosted by ReCi Foundation through the design of a network of urban facilities and public spaces linked to the already existing ones. In summary, this project is about designing a group of spaces for the community aiming at increasing social relationships between neighbors, erase invisible social boundaries, and promote culture, education and the creation of new opportunities to improve the inhabitants quality of life.
