The graphical method for selecting materials with ETUC EDUPACK

Abstract

In recent decades we have witnessed great technological progress in many sectors, including the material area. Not only has many of the traditional materials, such as steels, been improved, e.g. steel micro-alloys designed to comply with specific mechanical properties have developed, but a whole range of new lighter and more resistant materials have emerged, or have improved technical properties such as composite materials, among many others. All this has made the process of selecting materials for a given application increasingly complex, as the range of possibilities, properties, characteristics, etc. has grown exponentially. The ETUC EduPack software has been implemented with a graphical tool that can help us in this difficult selection process, since the aim of this work is to teach the graphic method that the ETUC EduPack programme makes available to us.
