Rehabilitation of the Turia brewer in music event spaces.

Abstract

[ES] The project consists of the restoration of some volumes of the former Turia brewery, located in the ‘Cross’ district of Valencia. In addition, these buildings form part of the package to be involved in the project of underground train tracks, with the aim of generating a green lung in a district with a high building density. This project, combined with other interventions carried out in different historic buildings located in the action area, aims to become an important attraction for a revival in the district, at urban, social and economic level. Creating new residential blocks, public spaces, jobs and an increase in the leisure of the place, which, as a result, increases the quality of life in the neighbourhoods of the Cross covered and Malilla, the latter being the neighbourhood to which the general intervention borders. The intervention on pre-existence consists of choosing and valuing the volumes of interest as the basis for a single project created through a continuous building that generates external public spaces, sets the limits for the implementation of the project and articulates the volumes on the various floors. The main programme consists of musical spaces of different scales and typologies, ranging from a scene for macroconcerts, to a multipurpose room, to test enclosures and recording studies. On these, the physical criteria necessary to have control over the acoustics of the environments are applied. This is done by choosing materials, textures and geometries, according to the intended use of the spaces. The musical complex is completed through a large commercial and craft area linked to music, which includes gastronomic equipment, increasing the opportunities for recreation of the project.
