Abstract
This article examines in detail the content of manuscript B.5.4 (25) of the Library of the Royal Seminar San Carlos de Zaragoza, hitherto unprecedented. It is an autographical manuscript containing ‘Notes and amendments to Julio César made by Jerónimo Zurita’. The main body of the manuscript is notes to Bellum Gallicum, Bellum Persile, Bellum alexandrinum and Bellum Africanum, which relate mainly, but not exclusively, to textual criticism. In drawing up these notes, Zurita used various editions and manuscripts, some of which, thanks to the direct cross-checking of the material, have been identified. This article is part of the Research Project Study on the textual and literary tradition of Julio César’s work in Spain, subsidised by DGI (HUM2005-00442).
