Images of feminity in Queen Isabel I of Castile-La Mancha

Abstract

Minutes of the 8th Scientific Meeting of the Spanish Foundation of Modern History. Madrid Junio of 2004 The representations of Queen Isabel — and King Fernando — both those due to the chronics of the reindeer and those that occurred later, bring us closer to the ideals of feminity and masculinity specific to the time the texts are written. The comparison makes it possible to understand the differences, morals and political strengths that were assessed and demanded differently in the King and Queen and how power that is normally problematic in women is granted and justified in the case of Queen Isabel. Finally, it is about how the Queen’s image is used in written literature to educate women, as a model and mirror for women.
