Remarks on 17h-century bilingual dictionaries of Spanish and indigenous languages of America

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to make some remarks on the seventeenth-century bilingual vocabularies of Spanish and indigenous American languages. These vocabularies were composed by missionaries who had the practical needs of evangelization in mind. I will comment on the lexicographic purposes of these works, and on some of the influences on which they were based. Update bibliographic data about those vocabularies is exhibited.
