Abstract
This memory explores the subject of changes in socio-environmental relations within the community of Isla Arena in the State of Campeche in Mexico. This work is based on the political ecology approach, allowing for the analysis of environmental narratives and practices. Since the creation of the Biosphere Reserve Ría Celestún in 1988, the relationship between members of the community and their environment has changed as a result of the introduction of new environmental policies, the introduction of new conservation actors, changes in access rights and the development of new economic activities such as ecotourism. These transformations in practice and the incorporation of new narratives influence how members of the community perceive their environment and how they relate to it.
