A violon under the sea: follow-up to Reflection on the integration of socio-historical elements into the writing of the novel: the example of a novel taking place in Europe at the turn of the 20th century

Abstract

CRÉATIVE PART: A violon under the sea. The novel takes place in Europe at the turn of the 20th century and tells the story of Mathias Berthelot, a man of normandy origin lasting some 30 years, unable to turn the back to his hiking past. After many years of loneliness, the sudden arrival of a child who is forced to take care of the child will require him, through a certain insider trip, to take a different look at the world. REFLEX PART: Reflection on integrating socio-historical elements into the writing of the novel: the example of a novel taking place in Europe at the turn of the 20th century. As a violon under the sea takes place in Europe at the turn of the last century, writing has required a lot of research to locate the narrative within an appropriate narrative. But what are the effects of socio-historical research on writing? How is it a brake and at the same time an inspiration engine? What freedoms can the writer take with regard to the use of history? These are the questions that the following reflex test will try to answer.
