Abstract
Since recently the French Community of Belgium has passed a decree introducing several measures against early school leaving. One of these measures is the creation of ‘school hanging services’ (S.A.S.) for young people at risk of dropping out of school. Multidisciplinary teams supervise these young people ‘out of school’ with the aim of returning to the classroom under optimum conditions. The University of Liège University’s General and Educative Intervention Service (DGIE) was asked by the SAS ‘TPavn Compas Format’ to train and supervise this new and unprecedented teaching experience. To this end, the DGIE will use a quality model which has already been widely validated, in particular in docimology. Professor Jean-Luc Gilles’ team here describes the main stages of the intervention, illustrating a practical use of the quality model. On the basis of the ‘needs of the actors’, we will see how, on the basis of ‘practices validated by research’, practitioners will use the ‘human and material resources’ at their disposal to create ‘theoretical models’ to support young people. Written in jargon cleaned language, the article illustrates a fertile match between field and research.
