Where these data come from
The fable of the child and the elderly. Time measurement in childhood stories

Abstract

The Communication looks at a specific aspect of childhood stories in orphanages: the author’s view of his or her relationship, child, with the old people around him (grandparents or others) and that he or she relegates at the time when he or she is old or even old. The situation is at Chateaubriand, Stendhal, Sand, Gide, Sartre and many others. The childhood narrative always reflects a fable of the child and older people whose challenges are multiple: measuring time, thinking about the age of life, medling on parentage, apprivoating death. Examples are Chateaubriand and Gide.
