this article provides a critical summary of a set of metalexicographic contributions produced by European contributors in the field of French differential lexicography and gathered in the book led by Claudine Bavoux. More specifically, it analyses the theoretical and methodological positioning of these authors, in order to better understand the constraints they were facing and to clarify the issues at stake in their work.
